In 2009, with the assistance of a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Almidart, a 1934  fishing vessel built by George Gamble Shipyard in Port Dover, was permanently dry docked at the Museum. Surrounded by walkways, interpretive panels and platforms to view the tug, it has become a major attarction and record of Port Dover's historical connection to Lake Erie and the industry that helped build the town.
